Dementia Care groups

Dementia touches many lives. Whether you are living with dementia yourself, caring for a loved one, or supporting a friend.

We understand that the journey can feel overwhelming at times. You are not alone, and support is available.

This page gives a gentle introduction to dementia, explains how it can affect people and those around them, and shares information about the dementia care groups we offer at Monos Centre. We warmly welcome you to explore what feels right for you.

What is Dementia?

Dementia is an umbrella term used to describe a range of conditions that affect the brain. It can impact memory, thinking, communication, and the ability to carry out everyday activities. Dementia is progressive, meaning symptoms may change over time, and each person’s experience will be unique. iving with dementia can be confusing and frightening, not only for the person diagnosed but also for family members, friends, and carers. People may experience changes in mood, behaviour, confidence, and independence. Those offering support can often feel tired, isolated, or unsure where to turn for help.

Learning more about dementia and connecting with others who understand can make a real difference.

For trusted information and national support, we recommend visiting Dementia UK, who provide expert advice and practical help for families affected by dementia.
